D of C Hospital

Taplow

Nov 24th 16

Dear Mother:-

Just received two letters from you, Dec 27th and Jan 3rd.

I am not going to have an operation as the doctors have decided to let my arm stay as it is sooner than take the risk of spoiling it altogether.

I am going back to Uxbridge so you may as well address your letters there. I don't know when I shall be going but I shall be there by the time you get this letter.

We are having pretty cold weather just now but I hope it will change soon. This is a fine place and is owned by Major Astor, a brother of John Jacob Astor. His wife knocks around here as if she owned the hospital.

I have not heard from Syd or Dad for a dog's age but I have a field postcard from Frank.

We are about three miles from Maidenhead but I have not been there yet as we are only allowed out from 2 to 4 p.m.

Sorry to hear Bessie is so blue. Guess she needs slapping.

Love

Jack
