Dear Violet-

I received your letter yesterday. I have been going to write you for a long time and have finally succeeded. I like military life very much But it will be very different when we get up at the Exhibition. I haven't a uniform yet but expect it soon. Last Sunday we had to turn out for church parade and I saw mother for the first time as we were marching in the church and believe me it was some surprise party for me. I hope you will come over for the week end. I received 6 days pass on Monday $11.10 not to bad is it. I go down at 8:45 get off at 12:00 and go to Uncle Jack's for dinner back at the armouries at 1:45 and get off again at 5:00. We have 15 min recess in each half day.

So long.
Jay.

P.S. Bruce and I are now going to see Charlie Chaplin.
