H.M.S. GLORIOUS
MEDITERRANEAN FLEET

November 17, 1939

Dear Dad:

I received eight letters today, which certainly made it a red letter day for me. Letters from Adelene, Max and home. Last one from home written on September 27.

Max enclosed a picture and he certainly looks fine in uniform. At the time of writing he was waiting for movement orders.

Adelene tells me some amusing things about you - having to whisper names of people to you while walking through Ripley and using your electric razor at 0645 in the morning and whistling cheerfully. Anyway, they all liked you immensely.

Tell Jean I don't like her hair done that way. It would be much better if it was close to her head. She reminds me of the Queen of Sheba with that mane. Ouch! I didn't mean it.

I am glad you are teaching her to drive. She has lots of aptitude.

Don't fail to write often. I enjoy your letters very much.

Love

Bill
