My Dear Mother:-

Yesterday I received forwarded from France the running shoes etc. mailed to me by you on July 25th. I was very glad indeed to get them and they will come in very handy in the months ahead. I also got some of my belongings which one of the boys managed to get across to me - including a few pairs of socks - about a half-dozen handkerchiefs, the underwear you sent me - my razor strop etc. I am real fortunate in getting them.

Yesterday I mailed you a small packet containing a souvenir book and a small Heinie map. I have another small parcel of a few souvenirs which I am sending in a few days.

I am going on leave - 12 days - on Friday and directing my course toward Edinburgh. I received the £5 which you sent me today and I expect we will be paid £10 or £12 when we are given our passes.

The weather continues very wet and disagreeable. I have been down to Bexhill a few evenings to meet Jack Morrison but outside of two picture shows there is very little attraction down there.

Well, I'll close now. Will write you more fully when I get away on leave.

Yours
