Dear Mom & Dad,

I hope you are both well and your hard winter is easing up somewhat. I am okay at present but I don't know what I'll do when July rolls around. The other day I received your letter of the 27th Feb., and the swell box you made up from Jim & Gwen. Also a letter from Aunties B. & E. of January 3rd. All their letters by the way, are censored & sealed again. Nobody else's are that I get. Are mine ever cut at all? I try to be careful what I write and you can see the reminder on this form that is constantly before us. Yes I use the cream and we can get coconut oil here which helps my arms & legs. It's good for the hair too. Some of the fellows with bald heads or thin hair have grown a lot of new hair since coming to this country. I don't know about my old job -- when I left I swore I'd never go back there, but now that there's a chance (though slim yet) of me coming home running in double harness, it might be wise to go back there because of its dependability. I would appreciate it if you find out more about the home airfield and Mt. Hope, for it sounds like a perfect set-up for me. It sure would be nice if Jim and I were there helping Dad build the attic room and garage at the beach. I'd like to be using my ice skates. I went to an indoor rink in L'pool once. I hope Gwen likes you both and doesn't miss Jim too much. These Indian Army boots would ruin those good socks, Mom, so please don't go to the trouble. Days are hotter now but nights [are] just as cold. Love, -- Joe.
