July 1/42

Dear Mom,
Well here I am writing two days late again. I got those pictures of our flight and will bring them home on my next 48. The photographic section had took our pictures to-day and I think I will get a copy of those too. They are starting to fly here again after all the bad weather so I guess we will be doing a little work for a while anyways. So far I haven't heard any rumors about us leaving this weekend so I guess I will be here for a while yet. The other day on pay parade all our barrack block refused to pay mess fees as the grub is terrible here. Nothing has been said about it yet and I hope it gets some changes in the meals here. The fellow below me got promoted to a sergeant to-day so I guess I will be losing my bunk mate. I stopped writing for a while that is the rest of this being written on Thursday morning. I went into Mossbank last night to the dance. Say that place sure is a dump and how I think 3/4 of the population is airforce on Wednesday nights anyhow and very drunk airforce by all appearances. I wrote Melville last night but I don't expect a answer for a couple of weeks. I got a letter from Eaton and he hoped to be home sometime in September so I think I will get my fourlough about the same time I hope. Well I think that is about all for now.
