Feb 21/40 Dear Tick:- I wrote to you some time ago but I don't know whether u received it or not, it might have gone to the bottom for all I know. I received letters and a parcel from Mom and Wannie a few weeks ago and wrote them on the 15th, the letters are on their way. This sure is a lovely day here. Sunny and warm. We were out on a scheme all day and enjoyed it thoroughly. A few weeks ago we recruited a bunch of fellows from the other companies and are training them for signals. They are coming along real good. They didn't know a thing about signaling when they came in first and now they know more than Grady. Some body drafted a petition and signed it with all our names that Grady was to stay in tonight and study. Grady says, give me that so I can read it and laugh when I get back to Sydney. You smart guys will be all dead. On the scheme today I took 6 or 7 snaps of the signalers in action and I think they will come out pretty good owing to the fine day. IF they do come good I will send them to you and I want you to get them published in the Post and send the Post to me. If the Post manager is satisfied with them and wants more I am willing to take any amount of them if they can arrange to give me a camara. I would like to have a flash camara so that I could take pictures of the boys in their barracks mess room and recreation hut. I would send a detailed description of each snap. I think it would interest the Cape Breton people a lot. There are about 40 Cape Breton with us here. My job here is looking after the signal stores. And in France it will be the same so I have a little leasure time on my hands. If your boss is interested tell him to drop me a line but wait until you get my next letter before you approach them. Remind them that I am going to France with the Nova Scotians and so may have a chance to get some pictures of them in action. I am sending a snap of the King inspecting the 22nd from Montreal, they are in our barrocks, our fellows were guard of honor for him. Harry Walsh took the snap after dropping the camera in the snow. He was all excited you will notice the sploches on the snap. That is the snow on the lens. The king is almost in front of the news reel man kneeling down. Notice the chap in the foreground sneaking a snap. There was nobody allowed on the square except those on parade so you can understand the nervousness of our would be camera man. This is a very poor shot, but it is at your disposal. Ill have to quit now so long till the next time. Yours Boyley
