My Dear Father,

Just a line. I rec'd your very welcome letter which I found enclosed for which I was very glad to get as I was dead broke just after the scrap which I wrote and told you that I was in. Your letter was dated July 10th. Took quite a while to come. I wrote to Dougs wife I did not write very much I hate to write those kind of letters as you know there is no pleasure in it.

yes Bill will feel very bad to hear of his mother's death.

you must have had a fierce time at Dr. Morris.

I wish I had the brain that John has and could speak like him. I would not be a Pte here. Two of our Sgts going to Blighty in a few days to take out a Commission.

Doug would have been going soon I think.

We are having dandy weather I suppose Sadie has been home and gone back.

how is the hay this hear? I had a letter from John a few days ago. He is still as busy as ever said he was going on a trip.

How is Jessie getting along playing in the Church? She can do it O.K. I know. How I would like to walk into Church one of these days. I hope that day may come in the near future.

well Father there is not very much to write about will say bye bye.

P.S. with heaps of love to all thanking you again, I [?] for day for the one spot
