Dear Auntie

Having a few minutes to spare I thought I would try & reply to your last welcome & kind letter which I just received a few days ago.

Since I last wrote you "Auntie" things have been unusually busy in fact some of the very hardest fighting of the whole war has taken place on our front - or in the immediate vicinity.

Fortunately we came out successful & considering the full extent of war gains we did not suffer heavily.

The hardest part is the losing of so many fine pals & comrades who came through so much with you. I am very thankful that I am in the very best of health & spirits.

I sincerely hope the weather has improved with you long before this that you may have a successful harvest this fall.

owing to the latest developments I believe we are in a better position right now than at any time since war broke out.

I have had occasion lately to witness quite a considerable number of German prisoners brought in & must candidly say I never saw a worse looking body of men both mentally & physically. They seemed very pleased to be captives although they appeared very frightened. Their officers evidently threatening them of our treatment of prisoners. In fact the where very surprised at our leniency towards them. Our troops do not bear an feeling against the individuals treating them as "victims of circumstances" Please pardon me again Auntie if I fail to affix stamps as I am not sure if I can procure them Remember me to all as I shall have to close again. With Kindest Love & Wishes to all.

Your Loving Nephew
Arthur 7th Brigade C.F.A.
