45 Reinforcements Shorncliff England 23/9/15 Dear Sister I received your letter to night, and one from home, the weather over here is not unlike Canadian weather so far, it is not as cold in the mornings over here as it is in Canada. We were out for an all day march to day, we left at half past eight, and got back here at 5, we marched up through Folkstone on our way home, it is quite a town, it is a great watering place, but there are not many people here, except soldiers, it is a nice walk, on a saturday afternoon or a sunday to go down and have a walk along the promenade and back to camp, well if you like you can send me down a few scones, as I won't be able to get any leave untill next week as there is only a few allowed away every week, and the ones for this week end have been picked allready, but I may not be able to get it then, would you try and find out if the night express from London stops at Dumfries, as we can get no information here, but perhaps I will have to change at Carlisle, what do you think would be the best way to come,I think that is all this time. I remain Your loving brother Alex What would you like as a present, as I am no good at picking out anything.
