Dear Betty:

Received your letter re wedding - also saw the account in both the Sun & the ‘Province'.

Well the boy had gone & I don't suppose that we shall see a great deal of him from now on - It is something which had to come of course & there are not many lads who stay at home as long as Billy has done - so that in that, we have been fortunate. I left home before I was 17 & was never back for long at a time after. I don't think that I shall be at their house very much - I don't want to run into the other crowd. Am afraid that it is going to be the end of any serious writing, for I don't think that Winnie will be exactly an inspiration. However he had made his own choice & he has to live his own life; still it does seem almost impossible to think of Billy as a man with a home of his own - & entirely on his own. I received a short note from him on Tuesday in which he enclosed the forms for registration of revolver - I have already forwarded them on to Victoria so that is something we do not have to worry about now - (you can keep it under your pillow for protection.)

Shall be writing him in a day or two at Oyster River. Have no sent the laundry yet, but will do so at the beginning of the week.

Things here are about back to normal now, Mr [?] Davies is in the hospital he went in last Saturday with a hemorage from coughing.

I am keeping fairly well though the constipation trouble seems to stay with me. You will have noticed the items re increased rent which have been appearing in the papers? - I don't think his [?] will try any profiteering etc.

Am still waiting for cheques there does not seem anything more to write about - except there is one of the new High-School teachers here from Kelowna a Miss Matheson & a Baptist What is the name of your relative there? I have forgotten - she may know them. These are anxious days for "Old Britain" - but we shall weather the storm - There'll always be an England.

Love Will
