My Dear Betty:-

Just received yours of the 20th you will have received mine telling of our departure, also Serg't Raike will have phoned you this morning telling you that I shall be in Wednesday night or probably Thursday morning about 7 am, it will likely be Thursday - I shall be getting 4 days leave, & it may be that I shall have to take a run to Emerson to bring back any of he boys who may overstay their pass but if I have to do this I shall get another day or two, it will not be in my own time - Oh you know Serg't Murray, he married Mrs. VanWort? well he went away without leave, & he is in the jail at Emerson waiting for an escort to fetch him back I'm very very sorry, for we were good friends & he was a good N.C.O. Yes you had better get another sack of flour also your sugar, I'm afraid prices aren't going to come down for a long time - but if you take any boarders you'll have to charge accordingly.

Yes we are having a cold nasty time of it here but it is a case of making the best of it, it won't last much longer that's one comfort. Have still one orange left of the fruit I brought from home & just last evening I discovered the piece of candy you dropped in the bag, & I enjoyed it very much.

I am enclosing a photo of poor Harry Aylward which Mrs. Aylward sent me. Am glad Mattie is getting along nicely, I wish I were with you & the kiddies to day, but I'll soon be seeing you again, kisses & hugs to my little Son & Daughter & all best love to yourself sweetheart Good-bye & God bless & keep you

Yours lovingly
Daddy Will
