Dear Violet

Last night was my lucky night. I received 3 letters and a post card. One letter from you two from Mother and a birthday card from Grace. Your letter was certainly some letter and so interesting. The snaps are fine too. You if it 12 below out here. No it isn't quite but just the same it is plenty cool enough. In your P.S. you say I don't do as you ask me. What is it you want and perhaps I will do it. But when I don't understand what you mean how can I do it. I am very much surprised to hear about Clarence Jones. He is certainly having a rough time of it. Your candy you sent was lovely it seems hard to believe that you made it. But if you say so it must be true. You make me feel homesick when you speak of the Old Jordan being frozen all over. The only ice we see out here is on some mine crater where we break a hole in the ice to get water for our much beloved mulligan. I am glad to hear that Walter's appetite is still good. I will close now with lots of love to all at home.
