Dear Mother:-

Your letter came to-day at noon just as I was coming off parade. I also received one from Violet. I was up to Aunt Florrie's Sunday for supper and expect to go up again to-morrow night and pay Grace the money I borrowed from her because to-day was pay day. I got a cheque for $9.25 and it is more expected. I am sorry to hear Art has the measles but I suppose he will have to have them sooner or later and might just as well have them now as some other time. To-morrow is a big day in the city as there is going to be a parade of all the soldiers in Toronto 17500 men so I see by the paper but I suppose you have seen it too. We are going to be reviewed by Sir Sam Hughes on University Avenue. The parade will be all afternoon and Thursday is a recruiting day for the 95th. The whole batt is going up to hunt for recruits although that draft did not go to the 74th after all. Your box of cookies just came at the right time when I was very hungry and had no money to buy anything to eat. Be sure and send another one soon. This afternoon we were doing station work in camp here. It is very interesting and the time goes quickly. I have a new bunk again and it is so narrow I can't roll around or I will end up on the floor it is a top one too. I think this will be all this time. Love to All.

Your loving son Jay
