Dear Mother,

I am writing this before I go on parade. I just received a letter from Violet a little while ago. We went on a long route march yesterday afternoon and I was pretty stiff last night. How is the skating at home. It will not be long till Christmas now. I hear that your cheque from Ottawa came to 1362 Queen St. but I suppose you have it by now. Have you sold the horses yet. We were drilling with rifles this morning and will have them again this afternoon. My laundry came today. I pay $1.00 a month for it. Well I guess it is time to fall in. I will see you on Wednesday or Thursday night.

From your loving son,
Jay.
