Dear Kiddo

I write these few lines hoping to find you all well as it leaves me at present, in my last letter, I told you we were going to Burnley in Lancashire for the week end, but we did not get there after all, our names were not sent in, in time for a special pass, therefore we only got a pass from Saturday non till Sunday night 10-ish and had to pay half 3/11 to London where we spend the week end the others who got the special pass, got a free fare, to wherever they went to, well we made to best of our time, whilst we were in London, for instance, we went all through the parliament buildings into the house of Lords, and the house of Commons and all the other different chambers, it was great, and did not cost us anything, it being visiting day after that, we went through Westminster Abbey, where all the big notables were buried, a guide was explaining things to us, we saw tomb stones in there, over a thousand years old, and a roman coffin, which they did not know the age of, and while we were in the Abbey they had service, (they have a service in the Abbey at 12 o'clock noon every day the war is on) and we heard Sir Frederic Bridge playing the organ, it was lovely, after that we went to madam Toussaint's where they have all the wax work figures, it would take me about a week to tell all I saw in there, we went in Hyde park and sat down for a while, we went and saw the German Submarine mine layer, which the British captured, you will find a post card picture of the Submarine in this letter, we were on pretty nearly all the bridges that go over the thames, including the Tower bridge, also we went all round the Tower, and last night we sat on one of the seats, that are built in the side of the Waterloo bridge, for over an hour watching the search lights playing all across the sky looking for german airships I suppose, I saw about 25 of those search lights going at once, it was marvelous, they have it all down pat. we went along the strand, and picadilly, we went past the War office, and the Admiralty we saw the sentry of the house guards, my the did look smart, sitting there on their black horses, in full regimentals, and sword at the slope over the shoulder, one at either side of the gateway, we also saw the famous stone from Egypt, called Cleopatra's nestle, it is standing on the banks of the river, it is covered with ancient markings, dated back 1,500 years before Christ, it was well worth seeing, we traveled quite a bit in the underground railway, it is a wonderful system, we also rode on the motor bus, there are hundreds of them running around, with girl conductors on them, well I guess I must close my letter now, so kiss the Kiddies for me and fancy I am just hugging and kissing you and tat a for the present, from your Loving Darling Husband
