Dear Mom & Dad,

I got your letter of April 19th last night. I don't know when it came through because I was away for 8 days repairing some of our kites that had become U/S on other strips. Flying this past while has been just like being a rubber ball, bouncing over the mountains and through clouds & storms. It makes one feel queer sometimes but I have not been sick yet. You should have my letter & photo by now. I had three made while in Cal. I sent one to Margaret & one to Jim. I have received a postcard from Jim from Scotland saying he got his. He says I look more like a wild Indian everyday and I told him that's because I live like one. That's no baloney, either. Margaret said she liked it very much. I am glad I got the chance to have it taken. I promised I would when I left her & that was six months ago. I could only give her a snapshot before. One of me in front of the chapel at Stanford University. My few days in Cal. weren't much of a holiday so there's not much to tell about it. People were kind of early with their V-day preparations weren't they? I trust Dad celebrated his birthday well. I don't know what kind of congratulations a 25th wedding anniversary calls for, except for wishing you many more anniversaries. Marg's birthday is on the 26th of May. I had a lovely letter from Aunt Molly tonight. Also one from Chris Inman. Aunt Molly sends her love to both of you. I'll have to turn in now, even though sleep is nearly impossible in this heat.
Love-- Joe.
