France June 27 . 17 Dearest Mother, Not much to tell you this time except that now I'm [?] better and expect to go back in a few days. Was surprised to see Orvil the day before yesterday. He called here on his way back from Leave. I have been having a game of hockey today down on the beach. Us colonials or Canyidiens as they call us against the Imperials and am feeling pretty sore and stiff just now. The weather has been fine latley and if I had a canoe or a dinghy here I would be quite at home for a while anyway. Am looking forward to a goodly number of letters when I get back up as none has been forwarded since I came here a month ago. I will write then. Wish lots of love to you all. Your affectionate son John
