My Dear Jessie,

Read your letter last week and with pleasure I will drop you a line or two. I got your letter of the week before last, last week, it went to 185th Bri. you made a comma after (C.Coy[?]) and made it look like 185 (C.Coy, 85th B), but I got it at last. We have not gone to France yet but expect to go this week. we are all ready, got our steel helmets the other day, this funny looking things; I will try and get a snap tak-en with mine on and sent it; before we leave. Hope you are sending your snaps to me; I don't think there is any danger of them getting lost. I will send that picture of us boys if I can find an enveelope large enough to put it in.

Was down to Godalming a few nights ago last Wed. night to the opening of a club, which they called (Kitcheners Club). Their were a great number of young ladies and soldiers there. The Mayor of Godalming opened with a speech and he was followed by General Leehie[?] our General, in Command In his talk he told us we had three years more hard over there (France); I dont know whether he meant it or not; that sounds nice doesn't it? (I dontt think), The club is having a whish drive Wed. night don't know whether I will go be here for that or not

I don't suppose you can imagine who came to hut to see me the other night. Do you remember Bill Hendry, clerk for McGillary[?] McDonald and Chrisolen, the rail road contractors, you used to make considerable fun of him, the way he walk; bent at the knees Father will know him alright. He is a Lieut. in fifth pioneers at Bramshot. Saw Dr. or Capt. McKininon [?] yesterday, he is at Bramshott too; he was only here for a few minutes. Had a letter from Don a few days ago, he doesn't like Bramshot very much I guess; poor kid is doing [?] days C.B[?] Ha! Ha! I though I would die laughing when he wrote and told me he was doing C. B.

Jess! I knew you would like some knew music, and I thought many a twice of getting you some some but always delayed it. Whenever I get a chance, I will get you some, if we don't go away I will go down town tomorrow night and if I get any I sure will, and send it to you. We has quite a snow storm here last night; about four inches fell, it will make things pretty sloppy. Think this is is all, will close with love

(Love to Father and [?]) from Loving bro Spence
