Sat. Apr. 7 -

Some of our left section horses die from exhaustion and exposure. They are in a rather exposed place - nights are cold and some horses have not even any blankets. Our horses are put in a rough shed and sec. horses which have blankets put in the open. Parades as usual. There is a weekly issue of smokes every Sun. but there have been two or three issues in a week - some sent from patriotic societies in Canada. There are frequent rum issues too in the evenings or when fellows come in after a wet night.
