My dear ones:

Tomorrow we go into the remnants of the trenches near Hooge where there has been a push on the German part. The other Divisions (Can.) have been frightfully mauled no real idea of what has happened is in our possession yet but the casualties are fierce.

I don't know what we shall have to do but it'll probably be about as bad as anything can be we must expect a bunch of casualties.

This is merely a line darlings To let you know I am thinking of you and if anything happens I hope you will hear that I did my bit If I come out O K I'll cable before this reaches you and if I am wounded and able to cable I'll do so. Feeling very fit and the Battalion is in good shape Good-bye. God Bless you all and my fondest love

Frank.
