April 12 - All off over the gap, about 120 teams conveying us over the 20 miles. Nothing important during the trip, only our driver proved ugly and we had to threaten him with throwing him out and taking possession of the team. Arrived at end of gap and all on a train of flat cars by 5 p.m.. Traveled by flats 33 miles, then at 10 o'clock that night matched 12 miles and got on board a train of emigrant sleeping cars to once more have a good rest right through to Winnipeg. A good day's work. Driving 20 miles, on flat cars over a rough and dangerous track for 33 miles, then a midnight march of 12 miles.
