Dear Mrs & Mr Ellis & Family,

in yesterdays Issue of the daily Star I see another had to pay the war took in the person of Hadden Ellis who was killed in action. oh how my heart goes out to you all in this perhaps the darkest hours of your lives the cruel war has taken so many of our brave men & still the call coms fourth be comforted your loss is Hadden's gain he gave his young life his country to save & [?] that is being true to god oh if I could be with you in this your hour of trouble but the distance divides us yet I pray that you will all look on the bright side for you I know the darkest clouds have silver lining I cannot say more my heart is to full but I do pray that god will bless & comfort you all & that in his own good time you will all see [?] a united family around his throne where parting will be no more again extending heartfelt sympathy we remain your true friends
