My Dear Mother

I rec your letter enclosed in Fathers [?] and was very pleased to hear from you. I also got a letter from Mrs M. Castell today or a letter addressed to the three of us. A report of the Sunday School Conventions and I got one from Mrs [?] a couple of days ago.

I got the hook and all the parcels you sent O.K. and thank you very much for them. The socks just fine and the homeknit [?] are fine to wear. Arthur is in the same companies I am and [?] is also moved now and he and I are together. Leslie is in [?] and we often see him in fact everyday where in [?] I enjoyed reading those [?] and [?] that you sent in the last parcel. I have been doing quite a bit of reading while in rest [?]

I was at a church service last Sunday night in the cinema here. We had a very good sermon from a Chaplain of another regiment.

There is a picture show here every night and I've been twice. It relieves the long evening now and again. Well Mother there isn't very much news as I have told Father the most of it this time and I guess the letters go around the family whenever anyone gets one. We are going for a bath today and this is the second one since we came out of the line. I am getting in a good supply of [?] and [?] for [?] so it is often quite a few days before we can get where we can buy things. Well Mother it is nearly parade time now and this is all the news this time. I know it is pretty lonesome for you when Frank and I are away but I am hoping and praying that we will soon be back safe [?]

Well love to all.

From your loving son
James
