Dear Mother -

In my last letter I told you that I had not received any of your parcels yet. But, the next day, I was told there was another parcel in the quarter master's stores for me - one which they had overlooked and which had probably come while I was away. It turned out to be the parcel you sent me on Nov. 14. Everything in it was in excellent shape and I was so glad it had come through alright. The cake was excellent and the sox from Aunt Bertha will be so good.

I don't believe I told you in my last letter that I met the wife of the Canadian High Commissioner in Paris. They have a place there - a sort of little rest room for soldiers which they call "a Corner of Blighty" and here a lot of first class society ladies come to entertain and serve light lunches to the soldiers. The High commissioner of Canada in Paris is the Hon. Phillipe Roy. His wife and daughter were talking to a lot of the Canadian soldiers and trying to make them feel at home. They had an Xmas tree there on New Year's night and I drew a small pair of collapsible shears. As I said in my last letter, we are in the home of a Frenchman here. There are five of us and yesterday we had our picture taken with the young son of the man who lives here. I hope it turns out alright and when I get them, I will send you one. I am feeling real well and hope you are feeling likewise. Gladys is home now, is she? Love to all,

Yours affectionately,
R.G. Brown
