Dear Mona,
Just time for a few lines in answer to yours received this morning. This is the third letter I have had in 6 weeks.

I write more than that myself. I have sent books and papers but have had no acknowledgement. Are you getting any mail.
I am glad to note that you are making sure for the winter's coal. Things are much the same over here lots of work. Of course it passes the time, and takes away the monotony of life.

We move about quite a lot but all letters are to be sent to the above address, until further notice. This is the quietest week we have had for a long time. We are left in camp this week while the battalion is away. I expect they will be back tomorrow. I have no other news at this time everything is work. We do not have time to settle down to do much long letter writing so you must excuse short note.

I have written a few letters to Evelyn but have not had a reply from her for 3 weeks. I am glad to hear that the children are well
I shall be glad to receive any parcel you care to send. I have not had any from you yet. As regards your remarks about the slackers, their time is coming soon. The game is far from being over and we shall want all the men we can get and more.

I have written to Ed this week they are all well there.
No I have not had any letter from home lately. Shall have to drop them a line again soon. There is no time to feel miserable over here too much work. The game does not allow for any being gloomy. We have to go thro with it and thats all there is to it.

This is all I have to say at present except that I mentioned in a letter to Evelyn that I was hoping to get her to England when the game is over. Not that there is much time to think about that.

I also asked for some money have you sent it. I am in great need of it also send some to arrive week before Xmas as I expect we shall have leave at that time if we are here.

I may go to [?] if I get sufficient time off. Tell Evelyn to write often.

Yours
Walter

How is Walter keeping?
Tell [?] that I have not had a line from him lately. He owes me a letter.
