Dear Friend

Just a few lines to extend to you my sympathy in your great loss. you have sustained of your Dear son on the battle-field what comfort to you to know that he his spoken so well of by everyone it does seem to me those are the ones who are falling the very best ones one trouble never comes alone now you have lost your father he was aged and could not get well. Still you will miss him from your home and where he has been laided aside for a time but trust you will look to him who alone can give you comfort in such sorrow that you have had to pass through at this time - will be your way before long and will call to see you I remain as ever your
